Liberation Commemoration: Honoring the Legacy of Nat Turner & John Brown

  • African-American Civil War Memorial 1240 U Street Northwest Washington, DC, 20009 (map)

Join us for a Liberation Commemoration honoring the enduring legacies of Nat Turner and John Brown. This free public gathering will feature a ceremonial wreath laying and presentations from local historian Marquett Awa-Milton, Griot Elder Baba-C, and spoken poetry by Ruben Robinson. Together, we will reflect on the courage, vision, and sacrifice of these pivotal figures in the struggle for freedom, and consider their impact on our community today. All are welcome—come connect, learn, and pay tribute to the ongoing pursuit of liberation.
