2025 Stump Fellowship
Cultivating neighborliness through the art of garden-grown gatherings
With another lease extension in the books, the U Street Neighborhood Association is looking to vest a new crop of Stump Fellows at Temperance Alley. (We swear it’s still a temporary garden). If you’ve ever spent time here, you know there’s always a friendly face to greet you and a neighborly host to meet you. The Stumps make it all happen. Might you be one? Here’s to Season 5—stayin’ alive.
How you’ll stump-sprout
The fellowship is a volunteer program, and you’ll have a lot of fruits to show for your labors. Last year’s Stump Fellows shared some of the benefits they experienced during their eight months of service:
Lasting friendships built on the foundation of collective care ⁕ Open doors to DC’s grassroots organizing circles ⁕ New skills that lead to green-collar work and new professional possibilities ⁕ Healing hospitality that extends a culture of welcome to others and nourishes you, too ⁕ Sense of ownership the agency that comes with being responsible to and for a place that needs you ⁕ Fresh produce for the body and soul ⁕ Creative outlet for wonder and play
