Refugee Stories & Film Screening with the IRC

  • U Street Neighborhood Association PO Box 73784 Washington, DC, 20009 United States of America (map)

Through this event, the International Rescue Committee seeks to engage members of the community in the Northwest Washington, D.C. area and beyond, with stories told by refugees uprooted by war and conflict.

We’ll be screening the film “This is Home” which follows four Syrian families as they move through the IRC Support system. The challenges faced by refugees – both during migratory events, and through the resettlement process – are difficult, and highly unique. They are also highly relevant in global society.

Participants will also learn more about Temperance Garden and neighborhood history, including Civil War refugee stories from the former site of Camp Barker down the street (now Garrison Elementary).
