To be in relationship with land is to know our role in it. In this session, we will discuss how humans and nature can be positive forces for each other and practice our stewardship by thinning overgrowth to aid ecological restoration. With the harvested plants, we will harness their gifts uncovered in previous sessions through creative art experiments. These creative experiments include making photo prints (phytograms and cyanotypes) with the Mt. Plantry Film Group and weaving with grasses. Please wear close-toed shoes and long pants if you wish to participate in thinning overgrowth.
The Temperance Sanctuary is a new extension of the Temperance Alley Garden – a place to quiet down, to observe, and to cultivate reciprocity between ourselves and the land. Come join us in the visioning and stewardship of Temperance Sanctuary: as a time capsule of Indigenous history and stewardship, native food/micro forest to bring back native biodiversity, and an ecological classroom to foster and practice our stewardship. If you’re interested in any of these topics, we welcome you to join us in its design and execution!
